Naad Yoga Council
Let sound make you beautiful.
Yogi of Sound
The non-profit association Naad Yoga Council e.V. has been founded on an initiative of Yogi of Sound Professor Surinder Singh. Since 2012, Naad Yoga Council has been realising his vision of a vibrant community (Sangat) of Naad Yogis sharing the wisdom and teachings of Guru Nanak (1469-1539) and making a contribution to the betterment of health and well-being for humanity on a physical, mental and spiritual level.
The most important tool in the teachings of Guru Nanak is sound – the Naad. The special technique and mastery in its use, composition and application is called Naad Yoga (yoga of sound). The mastery of Guru Nanak and other wise sages of ancient India, who were respected as enlightened, can still be found and studied today in the great compilation of songs, hymns and chants: Siri Guru Granth Sahib. Naad Yoga Council is committed to preserving, reviving and spreading these wonderful and almost forgotten techniques of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib.
Naad Yoga Council is an association of graduate alumni and current students of the training programs Naad Yoga Teacher Training and Sound Therapist by Raj Academy and Yogi of Sound, as well as interested people from all over the world. By using the techniques of Naad Yoga, it is our wish and aim to grow into a community of human beings, in which everyone can unfold their potential and live happily and healthily in full beauty. Concretely, this vision is supposed to turn into reality one day with our “Temple of Sound”: a place to meet for teachers and therapists from all over the world; a place open to all as a source of inspiration, a creative space, a shelter and an oasis of energy.
Following the principles of Guru Nanak, we, as an association, want to share Naad Yoga with all humans regardless of culture, language, religion, age and gender. Naad Yoga Council is not bound in religious terms. We understand ourselves as a cosmopolitan and open-minded community, which especially encourages attentive and respectful interaction with each other and communication among all people, cultures and religions. The association serves as a bridge between the school of Guru Nanak from North-West India and Western culture to make the precious teachings of Naad Yoga accessible to humans all across the world.
Naad Yoga Council is dedicated to building a network and further education opportunities for students and practitioners of Naad Yoga worldwide. Furthermore, we wish to create accesses to Naad Yoga for a wider community through workshops, courses, retreats and many other activities and treatments. A desire close to our hearts in our work and seva (selfless service) is the expansion of our community projects. Up to now we have been working together with a women’s prison and several hospitals, which are supporting us in bringing Naad Yoga to those spaces where it is strongly needed. We are looking forward to more fruitful collaborations!
